Founded in 2016 by a small team, Quantexa was built with a vision of enabling better decision making through better data-driven intelligence. Seven years, twelve locations and 700+ employees later we recently gained “Unicorn” status with our Series E funding round.  

Our Analytics teams build, deploy and maintain the a wide range of AI models which underpin our platform. This includes specific expertise in emerging methods for Graph based model and NLP models. Our MLOps team is task with automating and maximising efficiency of the build, deployment and maintenance of all model types.  

We are looking for a highly skilled MLOps Engineer to join our overseas team, working in parallel with our existing MLOps team. This individual will focus on developing and maintaining the infrastructure and automation pipelines that support our machine learning models, ensuring that they can be deployed efficiently into production environments. 

This role will involve close collaboration with data scientists, data engineers, and other MLOps engineers to deliver robust, scalable machine learning pipelines that are optimized for production environments. 

What you’ll be doing.

Model Deployment

  • Collaborate with data scientists to ensure smooth deployment of machine learning models into production environments.
  • Automate the deployment of machine learning models using CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Ensure proper model versioning, governance, and compliance using tools like MLFlow, Kubeflow, or DVC.

Pipeline Automation

  • Build and maintain data and model pipelines for training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Develop automated processes for data validation, feature engineering, and model training.
  • Integrate pipelines with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Kafka) to ensure efficient data handling for model training and inference.

Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Set up monitoring systems to track model performance and detect issues like model drift, triggering retraining when necessary.
  • Work with cloud infrastructure to scale models and ensure high availability in production environments.
  • Contribute to the troubleshooting and resolution of issues with models in production.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with data engineers and senior MLOps engineers to ensure consistency across teams and smooth integration of machine learning pipelines.
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies, ensuring timely delivery of new features and improvements.

What you’ll bring

MLOps Expertise

  • Experience deploying machine learning models into production and managing the full model lifecycle.
  • Good knowledge of the machine learning development lifecycle, with experience building a project end-to-end.
  • Good understanding of NLP.
  • Hands-on experience with MLOps tools like MLFlow, Kubeflow, DVC, or equivalent.
  • Experience with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Data Engineering.

Automation & Infrastructure

  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar for automating model deployment.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Helm for managing cloud-based infrastructure.

Programming & Frameworks

  • Proficiency in Python, including experience with machine learning libraries like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
  • Experience developing and working with REST APIs.
  • Good knowledge of Spark and/or Java.
  • Familiarity with distributed data processing frameworks like Spark, Kafka, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of BDD/TDD, and general testing principles.

Nice to haves

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack) for tracking production models.
  • Familiarity with GPUs and deploying models optimized for specialized hardware.
  • Knowledge of feature stores, embeddings, and working with large-scale machine learning models.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be joining the Research and Development department where you will be working on our core Contextual Decision Intelligence offering: The Quantexa Platform. The Quantexa Platform helps our Customers solve business problems in areas such as fraud, financial crime, data management, and many more. Our products process, analyze, and display huge volumes of data with the ultimate aim of detecting anomalous and suspicious activity.

The R&D department consists of over 100 people split into agile teams of Engineers, Product Owners, Designers, QA, and others each focusing on specific projects and areas of the Platform. Our back-end services are primarily written in Scala and deployed as microservices. We are huge fans of functional and strongly typed programming, making use of libraries such as Cats and Shapeless. We use Akka and Monix to help build scalable, highly performant, distributed systems. We utilize techniques such as event sourcing and CQRS in our persistence layer to ensure our datastores are scalable and flexible.

What you’ll bring

  • Take pride in designing, building, and delivering high-quality well-engineered solutions to complex problems.
  • Take a big picture approach to solving problems, ensuring that the solution works well within the wider system.
  • Commercial Scala and Functional Programming experience (or relevant Java experience with non-commercial Scala background).
  • Experience of the full engineering lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.
  • Experience with DevOps tooling and approaches (automation and tooling is something we are passionate about).

The opportunity

Our Quantexa Delivery team is all about bringing context to data. Technical Leads are drivers within our fast-paced delivery teams, implementing Quantexa’s innovative technology for an ever-expanding list of domains including banking, insurance, government, and healthcare.

We are problem solvers, delivering sophisticated end-to-end big data solutions to our internal and external client stakeholders. As a central part of our team, you will experience opportunities beyond that of an engineer. What you’ll bring

  • You’ll have a background in hands-on technical development, with at least five years of industry experience in a data engineering role or engineering equivalent, and at least two years of experience acting in a lead role within a data or software engineering team.
  • Proficiency in Scala, Java, Python, or a programming language associated with data engineering. Our primary language is Scala, but don’t worry if that’s not currently your strongest language; we believe that strong engineering principles are universal and transferable.
  • Expertise building and deploying production-level data processing batch systems maintained by application support teams. You share an appreciation of what makes a high-quality, operationally stable system and how to streamline all areas of development, release, and operations to achieve this.
  • Experience with a variety of modern development tooling (e.g., Git, Gradle, Nexus) and technologies supporting automation and DevOps (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, and Bash scripting).

The opportunity

Our Quantexa Delivery team is all about contextualizing data. As a senior data engineer, you bring it all together. Working within a fast-paced team, you'll implement Quantexa’s innovative technology for an ever-expanding list of domains including banking, insurance, government, and healthcare.
